TECHNICAL LEAD / C++ / GIS
MapFrame is looking for talented problem solvers to join its fast paced, real-world-oriented Delivery Group. At MapFrame, Tech Leads play a key role at all stages of the delivery process, working with both technical and non-technical staff. Responsibilities vary depending on project deadline and size, but the Tech Lead is the person who can “see around” the current problem, gathering and conveying information and working out technical issues. This position is for those who enjoy the action and can deliver the goods.

A FieldSmart Technical Lead usually -- though not always -- has a software development background with C++ programming experience. A strong comfort level with software technology is a MUST. Experience with spatial data or GIS is a BIG PLUS.

Requirements include a college degree and 5 – 7 years experience.

This position is based in Dallas, TX and may require occasional travel. Local candidates preferred but will assist relocation for the right candidate.

SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER / C++ / GIS
MapFrame is looking for seriously skilled software engineers who love the chase and want to design high-performance mobile products. At MapFrame, Senior Software Engineers get involved with a broad mix of projects and a variety of technologies including GIS, mobile computing, and wireless communications. Developers must be proficient in C++ (with Microsoft development experience) and able to think outside the box. This is an opportunity to play on a highly innovative technology field with strong team support. Experience with spatial data or GIS is a BIG PLUS.

SOFTWARE QUALITY ASSURANCE ENGINEER - TESTING
We are looking for a software quality assurance engineer with prior hands on experience testing complex software applications. The candidate should be highly motivated and able to work on multiple deliveries concurrently.

The candidate will work with Project Managers and developers who are configuring and developing MapFrame applications which are used by electric and gas utility users. The candidate should have good communication skills (oral and written).

The candidate should have a college degree and 1 - 2 years experience in software testing.

The candidate will test new product releases and bug fix releases. The candidate should have experience writing test scripts from requirements documents. The candidate should be experienced in unit testing, system and integration testing, and regression testing. The candidate should be able to learn complex software applications quickly and have excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

The candidate will also perform customer support duties including defect tracking, customer communications, and coordinating bug fix releases with the development team.

A BS degree in Computer Science or relevant field of study is required. Formal training in software testing, automated software testing, software customer support, GIS skills, and electric and gas utility experience is a plus.

GIS ANALYST
MapFrame is hiring individuals who have an affinity for mapping and spatial data, and who can think outside the conventional GIS box. Analysts at MapFrame play a key role in the delivery process, working with technical and non-technical staff to configure map-based products for highly demanding mobile environments. The ideal candidate has experience configuring symbology and layering for mapping applications.

This position offers opportunity for increasing levels of involvement and responsibility, depending on the individual’s skill and problem solving capabilities. A typical assignment would be translating the data model of a client’s back office GIS platform to meet the needs of the organization’s field users.

Experience building or implementing GIS applications is a BIG PLUS. A good understanding of spatial data handling concepts is a MUST.

Requirements include a college degree and some experience with spatial data handling.

An ideal candidate will have skills / experience in the following areas:
  • Background in GIS/spatial data environments: ESRI, GE Smallworld, Intergraph, and/or Autodesk

  • Experience handling large-scale databases

  • Demonstrated success in a team environment

  • Understanding of field automation for utility companies

  • Software development experience using Microsoft tools

  • Familiarity with commercial software applications
This position is based in Dallas, TX and will require little if any travel. Prefer local candidates, no relocation assistance will be given.

Educational requirements – College degree or equivalent required. Typical degrees for this position are Geography/Cartography, Engineering, or Environmental Sciences.
