MapFrame News Release Growing Demand for FieldSmart Solutions Results in MapFrame Expansion DALLAS (MAY 2, 2002) - MapFrame Corporation announced today that it is responding to strong demand for its FieldSmart™ software solutions by undertaking a major corporate expansion. MapFrame’s suite of FieldSmart software applications has emerged as the market’s preferred solution for moving GIS data into a field environment within the context of highly specific work processes. “We are pleased that FieldSmart products are the choice of so many utilities deciding to implement mobile solutions,” said MapFrame’s President Paul Wilson. “We are also fortunate to be able to add staff with the right mix of mobile computing, GIS, and utility industry experience. This expansion will ensure that MapFrame continues providing the same high level of service today and tomorrow that we have in the past.” Because MapFrame works closely with large electric and gas utilities throughout North America – and because FieldSmart software is evolving into a highly integrated state-of-the-art field system at many customer sites -- MapFrame is adding project management and technical staff as well as a Director of GIS Technology, a Director of Client Services, and a Chief Operating Officer. Steven L. Byrum has been promoted to the newly created position of Director of GIS Technology. Steve has been instrumental in developing MapFrame’s Field Flow Manager™ products that handle the flow of data between the office and the field. In his new position, Steve will guide the development of mobile GIS-related technologies. MapFrame’s new Chief Operating Officer is Richard A. Derdeyn. Ric comes to MapFrame after serving as COO at RedPoint Network Systems (Irving, TX.) He directs overall general operations and has responsibility for Financial, Legal, and other operational infrastructures at MapFrame. In addition, MapFrame has added a Director of Client Services. Donald P. Breitweiser has joined MapFrame in this position after serving in a similar position at Utility Partners (Tampa, FL.) He brings a broad background in technology and strong utility industry experience to a position responsible for overall customer satisfaction. Because MapFrame is increasing its project management and technical support staff, the company is moving its offices to a new Dallas location. This move doubles current office capacity, providing space for an expanded staff and product center. MapFrame specializes in helping electric and gas utilities incorporate map-based mobile computing technology in their field operations. FieldSmart applications include View, Inspect, Collect, Repair, and Design. These applications enable utilities to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of their field operations by bringing automation solutions to the out-of-office workplace.
